OPI | Introduces "Touring America" Collection For Fall/Winter 2011

Coast to Coast Classics

OPI Launches Touring America Collection for Fall/Winter 2011

OPI hits the open road with a new take on classic style in the Touring America Collection for Fall/Winter 2011. Inspired by Americana and cities with rich cultural heritage, the collection’s twelve shades offer comfortable glamour and wearable elegance for nails and toes.

“My recent road trip across the country sparked the creation of the Touring America Collection,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “Autumn is a time for reinvention, and these shades revive classic, iconic colors for fall, from cool heather, khaki and chocolate to warm rose, peach and red.”

The season’s go-to shades of taupe and pearl grey appear in variations from dark to light – A-taupe the Space Needle, Get in the Expresso Lane, French Quarter for Your Thoughts, and Suzi Takes the Wheel. Lush urban neutrals in deep sapphire (Road House Blues), rich raisin (Honk If You Love OPI), chic olive (Uh-oh Roll Down the Window), and coffee brown (I Brake for Manicures) merge with iconic red (Color to Diner For), vivid rose (My Address is “Hollywood”), and luminous coral and orange (I Eat Mainely Lobster, Are We There Yet?) for an expansive color landscape.

“This collection will take women around the world on the ultimate tour across the USA, with stops in Baltimore, Clarksdale, Hollywood, Jackson Hole, Memphis, Milwaukee, New Orleans, New York City, Philadelphia, Seattle, St. Louis, and Tucson,” explains Suzi. “Together, the locales that inspired Touring America make up a rich palette of color complementing trends from the runway, where we saw a mix of feminine details and dramatic menswear touches.”

Touring America includes the following shades:

Are We There Yet?
Don’t make me reach back there and take that perfect melon shade!

I Eat Mainely Lobster
We “clawed” through crowds to catch this coral for you.

My Address is "Hollywood"
We put this pretty rose-pink on the map.

Color to Diner For
I’ll take the rosy-red with a side of “awesome.”

Honk if You Love OPI
Don’t let this gorgeous dark grape pass you by.

Road House Blues
In this case…R&B stands for “Really Blue.”

Suzi Takes the Wheel
Buckle up—she’s not stopping until she gets to gray!

French Quarter for Your Thoughts
Want beads? Then show us your sexy gray nails!

Uh-oh Roll Down the Window
You’re gonna wanna pull over for this “unexpected” olive green.

A-taupe the Space Needle
You’ll climb to new heights with this creamy-rich taupe.

Get in the Expresso Lane
An amped-up dark brown that’ll never letcha down!

I Brake for Manicures
This gorgeous eggplant-plum has our full attention.

Wednesday Weekly Obsession | Guess by Marciano Jeweled Ankle-Strap Wedge

It's finally sandal season!!! Even though the weather here in Atlanta hasn't exactly caught that memo yet :o( There is nothing I love more than showing off my pedicure in a sexy wedged sandal. Which is why it was love at first site when I stumbled across these cuties. The Jeweled Ankle-Strap Wedge features a soft pink suede exterior, the ankle strap is embellished with sparkly rhinestones and complete with a peep toe. The wedged heel is 4 1/2" high for the girl who loves to stand tall. While these are priced right at about $200 I'm not certain if I'm ready to spend that kind of money on this shoe just yet but it's definitely a top contender on my spring/summer wishlist!

After browsing through Victoria's Secret's shoe selection, I went over to Guess by Marciano to see more of their selection of wedges. I spotted these cute Cherry Wedges based on a similar style. The woven-style wedges come in a neutral hue, perfect for casual to chic looks!

Wet N Wild | Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette In " Lust " | Review + Photos

You may remember that review I did awhile back of my first experience with Wet N Wild Eyeshadows. In case you missed it you can check it out here. Well, it's no secret that my first impression of the WnW Trio left me a bit optimistic about whether or not I wanted to give their shadows another try. But I figured I at least owed it to myself to try WnW's 6 color palettes and to see how they compare to the trios. I'm so glad I did!

Swatches

Glow: They are nicely PIGMENTED !!! Which was a pleasant surprise because after trying the trio I honestly didn't expect much difference. But OHHH these are VERY different! I didn't have to pack on the shadow just to get a decent amount of color/coverage. I also noticed that these were EASIER to blend ( not the easiest ) but definitely easier :o)

Glare: The lighter colors ( pink/cream ) still seem to have that chalky texture which is a REAL pain. But on the bright side, I hardly use those colors * shrugs *

Would I Recommend It? Hell yeah! I mean they're inexpensive !!! And I would definitely recommend one of these palettes any day over the WnW Trio's, just based off of my experience with each.

Overall Glam: Now I'm not sure what the madness is behind the inconsistency between the different palettes not being of the same quality soooo I'm just going to rely on my theory that Wet n Wild is just one of those brands that's occasionally a hit or miss. Glad this time it worked in my favor :o)

Have you tried these palettes ? Which is your favorite ?

Nubar Nails | " The Spring Garden " Collection | Swatches + Review

It's official, Spring is here! And I'm excited :-D well not about the pollen and the allergies :o( But I am excited that I FINALLY get to wear my toes out ( hehe ) and I'm looking forward to all the blossoming new bright spring colors for nails this season! Nubar Nails introduces " The Spring Garden " Collection. Check the swatches below :o)

Pink Lily
Vibrant pink creme

Earthen
Subdued earthen grey creme

Baby Sprout
Soft pastel green

Blue Hydrangea
Muted pastel blue

White Peony
Ivory creme

Yellow Primrose
 Delicate pale yellow

Purple Aster
Dusty pastel purple

Honeysuckle
 Cheerful honeysuckle

Dewdrop
Fine glitter top coat

Glow: I LOVE that this entire collection consists of pastels!!! Soft shades are my weakness. I don't know why but these colors sorta remind me of easter eggs lol. They're really pretty and it's hard for me to choose a favorite out of the bunch but my top contenders are Purple Aster, Blue Hydrangea and Dewdrop ( the glitter ). As usual with Nubar, the formula is consistent and not streaky at all.

Glare: Well it's really not a glare at all because I've discovered  there's a method to getting an even coverage with these pastels. I used about 2-3 total coats in each shade, with the first layer being kinda streaky and uneven but once you add the 2nd to 3rd coat it's smooth sailing! :o)

Would I Recommend It? Yes! These colors are adorable and very different from some of the other Spring Collections I've seen so far this season.

Overall Glam: I can see myself wearing every last one of these colors, continuously. Which is not something that happens often when it comes to entire collections, usually I only like certain colors but I truly have a thing for each one of these babies.

* The entire Spring Garden collection is currently available for $49.95. To purchase or to learn more, please visit www.bynubar.com .

Serena Williams Serves Up Four New Shades for OPI Glam Slam! France Collection

White and Red Shatter Debut for French Open!

Serena Williams Serves Up Four New Shades for OPI Glam Slam! Collection

OPI captures Serena Williams’ winning spirit with four additions to the Glam Slam! collection, including two new shades of the fashionable, must-have Shatter – Red and White. Launching in conjunction with the French Open, Glam Slam! France celebrates with two duo-packs for four unbeatable looks.

The first Lacquer set includes Spark de Triomphe (a monumentally marvelous silver glitter), paired with White Shatter. Once applied over completely dried Nail Lacquer, Shatter begins to crackle, leaving behind a two-texture pattern on each nail. The second Lacquer set features Rally Pretty Pink (rise to the occasion with this shimmering sunset-pink), paired with Red Shatter.

“We are very excited to continue working with tennis superstar Serena Williams to launch the next Glam Slam! shades,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “France is a country with a rich history in fashion and setting trends. These four new color options are ideal for showcasing your own personal style, à la Serena, whether worn alone or overlaid with Shatter for instant nail art.”

“Whether I’m on or off the court, style is important,” explains Serena Williams. “In addition to watching the runways for the latest trends, I think it’s important to add my own unique elements. With the new White and Red Shatter, I can customize my nails for a high-fashion take on the classically elegant silver and sunset shades in the Glam Slam! France collection.”

Serena Williams has received the World Number One in singles ranking by the Women’s Tennis Association on five separate occasions, along with being listed as sixth on the all-time greatest champions list. Additionally, she has won two Olympic gold medals in women’s doubles and has earned 27 Grand Slam titles to date. Serena is the most recent player to have held all four Grand Slam singles titles simultaneously and only the fifth woman in history to do so.

New shades in the Glam Slam! collection will be introduced to coincide with each of the four major tournaments, beginning with the Australian Open in January 2011, followed by launches in May 2011 for the French Open, June 2011 for Wimbledon and August 2011 for the US Open. As with all OPI Nail Lacquers, the Glam Slam! collection contains no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and each includes OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application.

Glam Slam! France will be available beginning May 2011 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $14.95 ($20.95 CAN) suggested retail for each duo-pack. For more information, please call 800-341-9999 or visit www.opi.com. Beija-Flor Naturals | Organic Soap and Shampoo Bar | Review

Have you heard of Beija-Flor Naturals? I have, and I must say that I've heard many great things about their products. One of the main things that drew me into this company is that they offer an assortment of natural and organic products, in which I've recently discovered a new found love for. I'm also, always in search of great products for my skin and Beija-Flor Naturals soap bars are definitely a recent addition on my " must have " list :o)

Organic Soap and Shampoo Bar
Beija Flor Naturals' Organic Soap and Shampoo Bars are handmade and completely free of harsh detergents, chemicals and sulfates. Their ingredients include: organic shea butter, coconut oil, olive oils and various essential oils and herbs depending on the bar. The bars are safe for all skin types including adults, children and sensitive skin. As a bonus, the bars also double as a shampoo bar that promotes soft, bouncy and radiant hair.

The packaging.

The bars are about 4-4.5oz.
( Lavender )

Glow: The first thing that I noticed and liked about this soap was the packaging, it's very simple. I know some people are really into extravagant and fancy presentations but I think the simplicity in the packaging coincides nicely with the whole natural and eco-friendly feel of their company. Not to mention, the soap itself is really pretty and it doesn't need anything extra to make it stand out. The soap lathers really well and it smells incredible, I have the lavender scented one ( they come in different fragrances ) . The most impressive attribute is that the scent is soft and it also lingers in your skin throughout the day. That's a huge plus to me because there are a lot of soaps that only smell good in the shower and quickly wear off, not this one! I also LOVE that my skin feels really smooth, soft and hydrated after use.

Glare: There are honestly NO cons for me! I am in LOVE with this soap! ( and that's rare coming from me because there are very few bar soaps that I adore )

Would I Recommend It? Yes, Yes and Yes ! Another thing that I noticed is that unlike a lot of  "natural" soaps this one didn't have any "fallout". If you're not sure what I mean, let me explain. I've purchased an African Aloe soap in the past which had little black particles in it. The soap was pretty to look at but the fallout was terrible, my shower was left covered in those little black particles which was quite the annoyance. But Beija-Flor Naturals Organic Soap is the complete opposite, it's texture is smooth and solid!

Overall Glam: It's definitely a keeper and a must have for bath/shower time. It's also affordable! They are currently only $5 per bar and come in a variety of fragrances, it's a pretty decent sized bar too so it will last you a while. I haven't yet tried it on my hair but I definitely plan too, it smells absolutely delicious!

Blue Shatter

Navy Shatter

Turquoise Shatter

“Black Shatter was received with great fanfare, showing that women are looking for new ways to express themselves and are excited to try different textures on their nails,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “By adding a variety of colors to the line, there are more options for every woman, whether she is looking for a funky aquamarine or elegant deep blue. Unlike traditional nail art which can be complicated and difficult to replicate, Shatter is easy to use and allows everyone to experiment with this new trend.”

All Shatter retail displays now feature Quick Response (QR) code, a two-dimensional barcode readable by smart phones and mobile phones with cameras and Internet capability.
