How To Go Nude | The Boyfriend-ly Natural Makeup Guide

If you're a girl who's "attached" or has male friends then I'm pretty sure you've heard him express his views before on how he feels about makeup. Let's just face the facts, guys are not fond of makeup and they're fully within their rights not to be...I mean they are GUYS, masculine, strong, rough (sometimes sweaty) guys. Some even cringe at the thought or site of it, maybe it's the bright red lipstick that makes a mess when he leans in for a kiss or that pesky foundation that leaves a trail OR maybe he's just suspicious of what you've got hidden underneath those "layers".

While a large percentage of men probably despise it, they've also learned to at least tolerate it because clearly makeup and the need for a woman's vanity isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Now I do realize that not every girl is willing to go completely barefaced for the sake of her guy but I do think it's every girls responsibility to please him every once in awhile and tone it down. The best way to tone down your look is to aim for colors that look more natural, these colors are usually earth tones, neutrals and nudes. Check out a few boyfriend-ly tips below.

 Batty Lashes:

Let's start with the girl who knows how to be seen without making a scene. One thing I do love about Kim Kardashian is that she does know how to emphasize a gorgeous face without going overboard. She's notorious for rocking full batty lashes alongside neutral makeup. Adding drama to the lashes is one way to offset a natural look. Not only do the right falsies make the face standout but it also brings focus to the eyes which allows you to minimize the rest of your makeup.

 Lovely Lines:

I always love it when such a powerful trensetting force like Beyoncé isn't afraid to step out sans a full face of makeup. Here she displays how a perfectly winged eye can add definition to the contour of the eyes. Start at the inner corner of your top lashline and drag the eyeliner across to create a winged effect for strikingly beautiful yet simple eyes. Be sure to stop right underneath where your eyebrows end, remember less is more!

- Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eyeliner Pot | $22

 Sheer Tints:

Gabrielle Union is like the spokes model for flawless skin everywhere! This woman effortlessly defines natural beauty and I love that she always has a fresh natural looking face. If you're like Gabby and already blessed with naturally beautiful skin then you can go ahead and drop that full coverage foundation in file thirteen. Tinted moisturizers are a good start to a natural looking face. They're lightweight and promote healthy skin.

-Laura Geller Barely There Tinted Moisturizer | $30

 Perfect Pouts:

One chick whose style game is highly underrated in my opinion is Ashanti. While she knows how to rock a mean outfit and shoe she's also no stranger to a well beat face. Here Ashanti shows off a barely there lipstick look. Remember that all nudes aren't created equally so definitely go for colors that are slightly lighter or equivalent to your skin tone to avoid the appearance of washed out looking lips.

 Products To Try:
-Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in "Rush" | $6.99
-MAC Viva Glam GaGa II in "Light Neutral Beige" | $14.50
- Bobbi Brown Glitter Lip Gloss in "Buff" | $19

 Shy Color:

Generally when you think of neutral; browns, golds and nudes come to mind. However, a natural look can also consist of color. Here Ciara shows how to pull off the perfect subtle pink lip alongside a rosy blushed cheek.  Try a brown or nautral lip liner and top it with a light pink gloss, blend together for a soft look. For the cheeks use a glowy lightly tinted blush, a bronzer might be more appropriate for darker skin tones.

 Products To Try:
Shu Uemura Glow On Blush in "Amber" | $18
- NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss in "Nude Pink" | $5.50

 Earthy Lids:

Halle Berry never fails to make her onlookers envious with her forever youthful glow. The perfect way to go natural with the eyes is to find an eyeshadow that's close to your complexion or you can even try a gold or bronze to deepen and compliment your eye color. Want to go natural without the eyeshadow? Try a concealer and top it with a brush of your foundation, this creates an even appearance all over.
